Description
The European Kingfisher is a little jewel of a bird. Usually glimpsed only as a flash of brilliant blue, moving rapidly up, or down stream. Only half seen and gone in the blink of an eye! But sometimes, if you’re very lucky, or know the right spot, you might get the opportunity to enjoy the sight of this beautiful bird, sat on one of it’s ‘fishing perches’, scanning the river for fish, before dropping like an arrow into the water beneath in search of it’s prey. That is exactly the scene that my bronze depicts. A Kingfisher, sat patiently on a favourite willow branch, scanning the water below for fish.
